A few years ago, a husband named Paschal sat across from me in my tribunal office, crushed by bitter silence in his home.
He admitted that his marriage felt like a cold business arrangement, where small misunderstandings kept turning into lasting resentment.
When I asked whether he prayed for his wife by name, he said his prayer life was limited to Sunday Mass.
Quietly, he had abandoned his first duty, to intercede for the woman God entrusted to his care.
This spiritual apathy is often where marital breakdown begins.

When Paschal began praying for his wife each day, his heart changed. He moved from selfish judgement to patient grace.

When you entered the holy covenant of Matrimony, you established what canon law calls a consortium totius vitae, a partnership of the whole of life directed toward the good of the spouses (c. 1055 §1).
